At an event like a wedding, who knows what you’re photographing? You might have the last ever photo of Aunty Em with her boys, or the best ever photo of the bride’s school friends, or the only ever photo with her sister who came all the from South Africa. They may not even be very good — but you don’t know their significance, and they didn’t really cost you anything (unless you spent ages on them in post-production). So you can afford to be generous with them. That's the very best reason I can think of for supplying the digital files as part of a wedding To View More >>

We saw this beautiful album by DeRay and Simcoe Photography as it went through the bindery. For a little something different, they photographed the album for us! Take a look at their great photos of the main album and copy, and some words about the big day. "Kathryn and Kirk have been the easiest clients to work with since they booked their wedding with us more than 12 months before the big day. A late September wedding, the weather forecast wasn’t great for the day but they weren’t too worried and went ahead with their 'plan A' with no dramas at all." "Their To View More >>

In my last post I explained how you could publish a Workspace client website in just a few minutes, but you can add far more impact with some optional extras that take just a few minutes more... You upload the images and create a new site for the couple as I described last time, but with two optional features added: 1. An event details page, with the To View More >>

For those of you who don't live in Godzone (New Zealand, OK?) Vaughan Smith does the drive time show on New Zealand's top music station, The Edge. He and Fletch have arguably the funniest radio show in the country and I listen to them every day. So when I saw his album working its way through production I thought I'd grab the opportunity to ask him a few girly questions. Read on, ladies, he's not just funny, he's got a soft centre. • Tell us about how it all began - where did you and Sharde meet, and how did you make her fall for you? Like any good modern day romance, it was in the workplace To View More >>
The average wedding photographer works a lot harder today than they did ten to thirty years ago. The promise that digital photography would make life easier and cheaper just hasn’t eventuated. We've been keeping statistics about our albums for thirty years, and I thought sharing a few numbers might reinforce that cliche, “We’re our own worst enemies”. We’re talking averages here, and everybody's different, but this is how it looks to us.
