Gary Vaynerchuk said something about the worst thing you can do in business is to be romantic about how you make your money. But show me a photographer who doesn't love taking pictures.  In fact I just wrote two rather emotional posts myself about professional photography. So I thought I'd set out the unromantic business reasons to sell products. Not how to sell or what to sell, but why.  And yes, we make the products, so of course we’d love you to sell them, but this is what's in it for you. We call them the three Ps. 1. You benefit from the sale of the To View More >>

From the Emerald Isle. Our 'Album of the Week' is a beautiful 15x12 Duo Overlay. We love the modern vintage feel of the wedding, and the beautiful emerald green colours look perfect in the matted album. Ivan and Shirley from Alexander & Eve in Northern Ireland, shared a few moments from the day with us. "Ciara and Jason’s wedding at the Galgorm Resort and Spa in Northern Ireland was an Irish/Australian love match. We'd first met the couple the year before and knew then that their wedding was going to be a glamorous, winter fairy tale. "The wedding To View More >>

More updates to our Frame range. Let us know what you think!  Circle apertures: Circles have made a comeback, can you believe it? After many requests we've just added them to our frame collection. Just select a template from our range for matted or un-matted frames when setting up your order in Workspace.  Torn edge floating prints: Torn edge floating prints are available for frame sizes 10x8 and above. They're super impressive and look great big or small. They are only available with Fine Art printing and single apertures. Select Floating, torn edge, To View More >>

Our Album of the Week features the wedding of Kathryn and Alexander, and photography by Natalija Brunovs from We Are All Stardust (AUS). Natalija shared a few thoughts about the day and the album design with us below. "I really enjoyed the laid-back elegance of these two. They had a minimalist feel but with gorgeous little details, where it really counted." "Likewise, their album design reflected that attitude. We went for a spacious modern design, letting images breath on the page, a truly “less is more” attitude. It can be so hard to cull back the selection To View More >>

Whether you're just starting out, looking at a supplying Queensberry albums or wanting to expand your offerings, you might find yourself thinking about cost; the cost of a product, the value for money, the experience your client will have when they receive a high quality, hand-made product. You can get an instant cost estimate for books and albums — in fact all our products — using our price calculators in Workspace. You can view and compare prices on screen, and even print a PDF.  You'll find the calculators under Prices in the main Workspace navigation. There's a huge amount of power in Workspace. We know, we use it all, and we love it! Queensberry’s website is built on Workspace. We blog in Workspace. We sell in Workspace. And we design albums in Workspace, and Photojunction — half the albums we make, in fact, all part of our free album design service. But not everyone wants to use our software to design Flushmount albums and Q-Books … not when they're already up and running with cool alternatives like Fundy, SmartAlbums, or Adobe's InDesign and Photoshop. The sole purpose of our Favourites feature is to make your job as a photographer easier. Your clients select their favourite images by clicking the Workspace heart while hovering over an image. (On mobile you can reveal the Favourite button by tapping an image to view it full screen.)  Your clients can review their Favourites by clicking the Heart icon at the top right of the screen. You can view them too, in the backend of Workspace, and use them, for example, to order prints, or other products you offer, or to design an album. To View More >>

I originally posted this on a private Facebook forum, where it got a lot of discussion — so what do you think? I've been watching people asking for feedback on their price lists — asking if their pricing should be online, asking if everything should be shown upfront, and these discussions make me think about the real problem with price lists. The way I see it is, most price lists make it sound like photographers sell USBs full of images, or pieces of paper — even boxes full of pieces of paper — and the problem with that is that To View More >>

Written by: Kate Hopewell-Smith Come summertime you can’t open a newspaper or magazine without articles about getting your body ‘beach ready’. Many women are secretly terrified at the prospect of getting into swimwear publicly, because whilst very few people actually suffer from body dysmorphia (the belief that one's appearance is unusually defective) most women have body issues. The truth is that I deal with this reality on a regular basis because I shoot a lot of boudoir photography. Last week I put a few pictures on Facebook from a shoot that both I, and the lady To View More >>

As told to Cate Scaglione - Life As Fine Art “There is a space between imagination… and attainment…that may only be traversed by… longing.” ― Khalil Gibran, Sand and Foam The story of Cindy Harter Sims is about more than going from part-time hobbyist to full time award-winning photographer. Cindy’s is a tale about longing for all that life has to offer. Photography just happened to be her way of finding it. There is something about an image by Cindy Harter Sims. It’s an inexplicable surge of emotions that make you feel as if you’re To View More >>
