A fairly common thing we hear from photographers is: “My clients just don’t want printed products.” But here’s the truth — more often than not, it’s not that they don’t want them. It’s that they’ve never been shown the value of them. They’re used to digital galleries. They expect USBs. That’s what the industry has trained them to expect. Here are three photos that won’t mean much to you but mean everything to me. They explain why I love wedding albums. The first is from my parents’ wedding in 1945, a beautiful sepia print in a classic folder. Young as he looks, Dad had just returned from five years at war. The girl on the left is his younger sister. Seven years later she married the young man on the right. Like my parents they were together for 55 years. The other woman is my mother’s best friend. Our 18x10 albums allow for lots of images, and high impact story-telling with their radical panoramic pages. And they translate perfectly into copy albums for parents and loved ones too. (If you've included lots of small images we recommend 10in copies for albums of this size.) This 18x10 is by husband and wife team Neil and Katherine of Tandem Photography, Christchurch, New Zealand. In 5 years look over your album. Your child is heading off to school for the first time, but the album's pages are filled with your first moments with your son or daughter.  Look over the pile of prints from your trip to South America, where you spent two months volunteering at an orphanage. You’d never felt so free.  Look over the album of your wedding. You weren’t sure whether you wanted it but your photographer convinced you otherwise. There's the moment you said I do. Tell me then, that printing doesn’t matter, because I can guarantee you won't.  To View More >>
