Panic attacks — we all have them “My bookings are down.” “I’ve gotta cut my prices.” “I’ve gotta slash my costs.” We all have anxiety attacks, so maybe this chapter’s for you. Anxiety is worrying in advance, worrying without a plan, psychological rather than rational. And the actions you take while you’ve got the cold sweats could affect your business for a long, long To View More >>

If the last couple of years have taught us anything it's to be prepared – so we’re sending our holiday guidelines early so you have you plenty of time to plan for the busy season. We always stress that these are guidelines, not deadlines, but we do encourage you to get your orders in by the following dates, to ensure we can deliver them before the holidays. Things are more normal now than last year — no more lock downs, we hope! But supply challenges and/or courier delays are still quite likely, so please don't wait until the last minute. Start your holiday promotions early and To View More >>

We're so grateful to our Workspace Print Shop early adopters. We've enjoyed helping you launch your Print Shops, and we love seeing your print, frame and canvas sales coming through! One thing you've told us is that you'd really like your customers to have a better visual experience when selecting their product options in the Print Shop shopping cart — which leads us to this update. The new Product Preview feature will show your customers the correct cropping of an image for the To View More >>

Life can be frantic.  We spend much of our working day on low value tasks — constantly checking our email, picking up our phones for every notification or call — and filling the gaps with our real work, whatever that is. Then we wonder why we're not making progress. We feel burnt out, unsuccessful and overwhelmed — never have enough time, "never get things done". But there's a solution, and I believe that if you start applying it to your own life — by becoming more disciplined about how you structure your days — you'll be more productive, and feel like you have To View More >>

When we first launched Print Shop in Workspace people asked, “How do I know which images will sell? And which products?” They're excellent questions — and yes we do have ideas about what works, because we print and create the products! But we can't generalise. Every photographer is different and so is every photographer's work and audience. You need to find what works for you. Let's be clear, this is not expensive. It's not like you're stocking a shop with stuff that might or might not sell. In Print Shop everything will be printed and handmade To View More >>

Still working on getting albums approved six, nine, twelve months down the line? This will be eating into your time and your profit. Here are some simple ways to get albums approved quickly, while adding value for your client and offering them a great experience. 1. Get in quick! There's before the shoot and there's after the shoot. Before, they're looking at your products (yeah, nice!) and photos of … other people. Afterwards they have your photos of them to fall in love with — and they will. But get in quick! — before the emotion of the To View More >>

You've seen Amanda King's By the Horns photographs in large format prints, but they look so dramatic in albums too! This is a 15x12 vertical Q-Book Medium with offset printing on Tintoretto to give that textured, watercolour look.  The creamy, 'Eggshell' cover is a vegan-friendly micro leather, appropriate considering the subject matter. ( Amanda, who's based in Canterbury, New Zealand, says anybody who knows her will tell you of her love for animals. "If only I could keep them all as pets.") How many Images should I include in my album? We get this question on a day-to-day basis and it’s always tricky to answer. How big is the album? What’s your style? Do you like big images or lots of white space? Do you have a story to tell? But we understand that photographers do need to guide their clients. Submitting 300 images for an 8x8 album just won’t work. Sometimes you’ll have thousands of shots from an event and your first challenge will be selecting the hundred or so to go in the album! So here’s the guide our designers use when creating album layouts. Just To View More >>

Want prints, wall art and boxes in time for Christmas? Our pre-Christmas deadline for books and albums is coming up fast, but it doesn’t apply to loose prints, canvases, boxes etc. But! although we don’t set deadlines for those products, we strongly recommend getting your orders in early. As time passes it gets harder to be sure you’ll get delivery in time, and if too many people leave their orders until the last minute someone’s bound to be disappointed… So, as we did with albums, here's a little nudge to get your orders in early and beat the Holiday Rush. Online galleries are a great way to display your portfolio, but printed portfolios have way more impact . And here's something different again – a "portfolio album". Such an impressive calling card! This particular portfolio is a 10x10 Panorama Flushmount with Fine Art printing — a high-end choice. Panoramas are perfect for big, bold imagery. You can spread a single photograph across a double page spread for major impact — creased, not cut, at the spine.  Q-Books (medium and light) are affordable alternatives. Portrait Albums are To View More >>
