Someone asked the other day why some photographers using Print Shop seem to be selling their prints “quite cheaply”. "I can understand that there is potentially volume in art prints that isn't there with portraits. But I still wonder how a client might feel if the price is significantly lower for an art print." I think there are a few questions here — does the difference in price matter? Are people undercharging? — and anyway, how much should you charge? I'll leave the last one for later, but meantime… 1. Why might you need to charge differently for your art versus To View More >>

This weeks 'Share of the Week' goes to New Zealander Amanda King, who shared her Queensberry Fine Art Prints, featured in her first solo By The Horns exhibition, on Facebook . Thanks for sharing, Amanda. There’s a wee thank you on its way to you. Amanda King's striking photographs went on display last week at The Woolshed in Darfield, New Zealand. "It was a fantastic night, and The Woolshed Gallery was very fitting for the occasion! The exhibition showcased my rural animal prints and I was selling framed prints on the night. A few clients have told us that they prefer to export their own printing files (page layouts) in Photojunction, but the "Export" button seems to have disappeared. So what have we done with it? Whether the Export button appears or not is dependent on whether you or we (Queensberry) are to do the exporting, and that depends on the option you choose in the Service dropdown menu during album set up. Looking at the screenshot, if you choose Print and Assemble you'll need to do the export - ie create the PSD layouts and, if need be, edit the files before you upload them to us. If you chose Export, Print To View More >>

Forums are about community... Sharing ideas, asking questions, providing feedback. We've just integrated our forums with our Queensberry and Photojunction Facebook pages to harness the power of one of the largest online communities in the world. On both pages, if you want to ask a question go to the 'Discussions' tab (highlighted in the graphic). If you want to offer feedback (or give someone else's idea a boost) go to the 'Feedback' tab. As well as these we're starting work on building a more user-friendly knowledge base. Look forward to hanging out with you more on Facebook :) Cheers, Nigel To View More >>
We regret to say the fibre connection to our print lab has just been cut. As a consequence our FTP upload service has been disrupted and you will not be able to upload orders from Photojunction until it is repaired. Our lab team is also out of email and phone contact. Our Bindery staff are still able to communicate and Workspace is operating normally. We are moving staff between sites so that we can get tech support back up and running within an hour or so. We are working on this urgently and will advise when we know how long the repair will take, but we expect it to be a matter of several hours. To View More >>

We have noticed that some areas of Photojunction are experiencing speed issues with the new Mountain Lion (Mac OSX 10.8) upgrade. We have located a design issue where opening images in the layout tab is slow to load. We are currently working to adjust the program with new installers to fix this problem. If you come across any further problems of this nature please email us at info@queensberry.com and let us know. We will let you know when this issue is resolved. Edit: This issue has now been resolved. Thank you for your patience. Cheers, Amanda To View More >>

I was talking to Pete at the lab who said we’ve had an influx of album design orders recently. Pete's a funny guy and he said that in some orders the client was even sending "the kitchen sink", a bit of Kiwi humour that denotes one who is going a bit over the top. As it happens a lot of new people have been trying the service as a result of a special we ran, and a few have sent us several hundred images to put in an album with maybe 15 pages. They’re obviously expecting us to select the images for the album, so we thought maybe a post on how we work might make it easier for you. A few years To View More >>

In part this post is for the locals - us Kiwis and the Aussies from across the ditch. There's more below for those of you currently enjoying Summer… If you love Queensberry's album printing, why use another lab for everything else? We believe in consistency across the board. The same lovely people will do your colour correcting and printing. Depending on what you order, everything will be printed on the same machines. Turn around times are short and you will be talking to the same customer service team. We offer a range of traditional silver halide prints, canvas and fine art inkjet printing, To View More >>

I've talked about Photojunction and Workspace. Now may I introduce you to Queensberry Lab Direct. This downloadable program is for Aussie and Kiwi photographers to order print products (traditional prints, canvases and fine art inkjet) from us. The difference between Lab Direct and the Workspace shopping cart system is that with Lab Direct, you are placing a wholesale order and paying for it yourself, whereas in Workspace it's your client placing the order, and paying the retail price that you set. Lab Direct very simple. All you need to do is to import the images, much the same as you do with To View More >>
