We often get asked how Queensberry started. Well, I came home from university one day to find Heather had bought a set of of leather-working tools so she could make a handbag for her mother! I never imagined it would be the start of a business that's been growing for more than forty years. It's literally in her blood. Her great-grandfather produced opera and made saddles as a hobby (she cried when she discovered that). Her grandfather was head designer at Selfridges. Her father, her brother, her uncles and aunts are, or were, all involved in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, wood and metal To View More >>

Prompted by constant requests for advice by new and aspiring photographers,US portrait photographer Cheryl Jacobs Nicolai wrote an article called, "What every aspiring photographer should know". I liked: Style is a voice, not a prop or an action. If you can buy it, borrow it, download it, or steal it, it is not a style. Don't look outward for your style; look inward. Learn that people photography is about people, not about photography. Great portraits are a side effect of a strong human connection. Read the full article here - noticed in GRINZ. Cheers, Nigel PS Be sure to check out Cheryl's portrait To View More >>

Don't tell those Apple fanboys but Philip and I spend a fair bit of time on Windows. We've been testing a few things and found something that may help you PC users out there. If you've found uploading from your PC to Workspace (or other sites) is very slow, then read on. Go into your virus protection and firewall, and add these two sites as "exceptions": uploader.queensberry.com workspace.queensberry.com We're not suggesting that you turn off virus protection, just to "trust us"! Making our sites exceptions will stop your virus protection and firewalls from screening each file as you try to upload To View More >>

"Today, thanks to Cathy and Nicolas, I discovered a new feeling… Shivering… You had me shivering several times while crying tears of joy and I can only be grateful for those magic moments spent with you! It is for these moments of sharing that I love wedding photography." Their day was romantic and full of love and happiness - take a look at a few layouts from their 18x10H Duo Pagemount album To View More >>

Carla and Tim got married on the 4th of June 2011 at Whirlowbrook Hall. Here's what Carla said about her photographer. "Steve Gerrard was one of our first wedding bookings. His style of photography is artistically modern with more than a hint of super-cool. Because you’re around your photographer a lot, it’s really important to get someone who is on your wavelength & Steve was very much that. Through Steve’s pictures, I could kind of get an idea how our wedding was going to be portrayed and what our album was going to end up like which was really exciting." They are a very cool couple To View More >>

Lauren and Colin were photographed by Leah Kua at a location that is very special to them - their family property in Kurrajong, New South Wales, Australia. This was their beloved engagement session in preparation for their wedding this year on December 9. They chose a 10x7 Duo to showcase their favourite beloved images as a guest book. This book will eventually become a set, along with their Queensberry wedding album. "Beloved sessions are so incredibly close to my heart as an artist" Leah says, "they are so unique because they capture and celebrate the true beauty and uniqueness of a couples relationship. As To View More >>

Every now and then we see a sample album with images from several weddings in it. We call them "Greatest Hits" albums. Even after discounts a sample album can be a big investment – we know that, especially when you're starting out – but this is not a good idea for at least three reasons. 1. Because it's not what your clients will be buying, it's hard for them to relate to. A bit of a puzzle. 2. Even worse, it's not convincing evidence that you're up to the job. Couldn't you find enough good images from one wedding, they'll be thinking... 3. What an album does is tell a story – of their day, To View More >>
