Queensberry’s wedding of the week features the marriage of Nidhi and Nikhil, with photography by Jasmin and Matt Photography. We spoke with Jasmin and Matt, who shared a bit about the days below.

Nidhi and Nikhil's three-day wedding celebration took place April 2019 at El Dorado Royale and Generations Riviera Maya resorts in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. It was an incredible experience, one that we'll never forget.”

“The festivities kicked off with 200+ guests greeted at the Mehndi welcome party, complete with fire spinners and dancing. Day Two began with Nikhil's Vidhi, followed by Nidhi's Haldi, both common rituals prior to the wedding day.”

“During these ceremonies, family and friends are encouraged to apply a turmeric paste to the bride and groom before being washed away with sacred waters, as a means of purifying oneself before marriage.”

“The evening before their wedding a traditional Sangeet and Garba was enjoyed by all, a night of music and dance, traditionally a circular dance around a statue of Goddess Shakti. The final day of celebrations consisted of a private first look between our bride and groom, Nidhi & Nikhil, before the festivities of the day began.”

“Nikhil rode on horseback for his entrance during his Baraat, which culminated with a meeting of both families during a ceremony known as the Milni, whereby extended members of the family greet one another and offer gifts and kind words of familial acceptance. Following the Milni, everyone takes their seats in anticipation of the Mandap, the hours-long ceremony where Nidhi and Nikhil were officially announced as husband and wife.”

“An evening full of good food, in great company, with drums and dancing, was the final celebration to honour the newlyweds and celebrate their union.”
