More wisdom from the over-30s... ;) In this segment Jerry Tomko tells Heather and me why he won't take a wedding booking without an album, why the lady in his bagel shop doesn't like digital and what's wrong with shoot-and-burn. And Heather talks about the only question many photographers know to ask about albums ... and what's wrong with the question. Click here to listen (9:52 mins). More soon. Cheers, Ian PS Apologies again for the audio quality. To View More >>

You can now choose in the Photojunction Preferences to have the Problem Reporter report on any problems in your album design when you create a slideshow or proof sheets from it. Why's that useful? Well you'll need any problems fixed before you order the album, so if you're going to create a slideshow or proof sheets of it, you can be sure they're perfect too, and exactly as per the album. This option is set on as a default but you can turn it off by heading to the Preferences and unchecking 'Report problems on exporting proof layouts and slideshows'. Easy. As regular users will know, our new final v1.40 is now out in the wild. If you don’t use the Betas we think you’re in for a treat. As with all our Finals, it's a combination of features from the past two beta releases, 1.38b and 1.39b, but this time we also added two important changes that only affect Queensberry clients. We've blogged about them already on Queensberry Connects – a few controls about the use of Panoramas in matted albums and some changes to the QBY Upload Order process. We'll talk about a few juicy features we haven't covered yet over the next few days, but here are a few To View More >>

There was a time when the saying was, "Never trust anyone over 30!" But hey, check out my picture – that was then and this is now. Seriously folks, we were talking to Jerry Tomko at WPPI, and I thought ... this man has so much sensible stuff to share. So Heather and I took him up to the suite, sat him down with wine and nibbles and interviewed him around a single mic. Jerry is now a valued client, but he used to work as a rep for Art Leather. Here he talks about teaching people how to sell, why to sell albums (and frames), pre-designing an album in the days before digital, and more. Don't miss To View More >>

Jerry Tomko is a long time friend who comes to mind whenever we think of heavy Photojunction users. He designs and sells a huge number of albums each year and has been using the software for as long as we can remember. 1) What impact does Photojunction have on your album design workflow? Photojunction has had a huge impact on my album design workflow. I have always been a firm believer in predesign - and in wedding albums, and I truly believe you should be able to see what you are purchasing. Even back in the film days, I would always present to the client what the album would look like before To View More >>

Like many good things, and all great albums, Musée begins with a story. In fact it begins with three stories, and the real magic is how they weave together... The first begins several years ago with a traveller on a bus in Spain, who strikes up a conversation with the woman sitting next to him. They like each other enough to introduce themselves. He's a wedding photographer from the far side of the world, in Spain on a scholarship. She's a paper conservator living in England, home to visit her family in Barcelona - and as it turns out, later, in love. The photographer and the conservator To View More >>

[caption id="attachment_7717" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Click to view image full-size"][/caption] It's been said that the first rule of online social media is, Invest your time, not your money. Which is why it's so hard to do. Let's face it – who has the time? So how about a marketing opportunity that requires just a button-click? We've just snuck (if that's a word) a new feature into Queensberry's Photojunction Resources, and judging by the emails already coming in it's going to be a popular idea. If we're printing and assembling your album, you'll see a question asking if you'd To View More >>

Well we're delighted with the response and feedback we're getting to the new Directory – and apart from a couple of tweets and one post we haven't even mentioned it. So, some feedback on your feedback. 1. We haven't found anything buggy yet (that's tempting fate). If your listing doesn't show up, you don't have an active account, your web address hasn't been entered or has a typo, you're searching for it in the wrong location or you haven't completed the set-up (especially "Step 1"). The solution to all those is to log on and click on “Set Up Directory Listing”. Do tell people about your To View More >>

I recently held a small workshop in the UK at the studio of Zoe Richards just out of Liverpool. It was intimate (there were only nine of us). We discussed album design and particularly spoke about the Musée. One of the ideas of that album is to create a feeling of intimacy. The resounding lesson from our discussion was about that and simplicity. Too often people cram images into albums to the point where there is no room to rest your eyes. The Musée design uses space to reinforce the luxury and quality feel of the product. There is something exciting about an intimate moment in a cupboard but To View More >>
