There's a framed photo of Heather and me that's thirty years old now and been on the wall above my desk for the last fourteen. It was shot by Rod Ellmore in 1994 while our whole family was together in Auckland. When I look at it I think: “Didn’t we look cute thirty years ago? And I had hair! Remember how those Lockwood houses creaked? The bloody dog ruined that couch… Love the Indian parchment — still on the wall… What happened to those Churchill books? The printing is like new… Those shoes were great…” In another thirty years our grandchildren To View More >>

I've just finished re-watching Barry Schwartz's Ted Talk on The Paradox of Choice. He makes this very important point: Too much choice produces paralysis. Offer people too much choice and they'll find it very difficult to choose at all. Yes, at Queensberry we offer a lot of choice! We know that. We do it because every photographer is different. And we agree, as Barry Schwartz says, that it can be difficult to get your head around. But … if you want to sell products, you need to make the effort, not leave it to your customers.  As our designer friend Donna says, to run a design To View More >>

We’ve been thrilled with the response to the Print Shop launch — especially now it’s available on our super-affordable Lifetime plan! — and we love watching your stores go live. We’ve been talking with many users about how we can make it even better. As a result we’ve made a few design changes to elevate your store even more. Update 1: New store layouts We launched Print Shop with three layout options (square, landscape and horizontal). We've now introduced a fourth, a "mixed orientation" layout design — i.e. it doesn't To View More >>

We launched  Studio Albums  towards the end of last year, and are so excited by the response. Now, a few months on, we want to share why photographers are choosing them as their album of choice — and also to thank everyone who helped us develop this new range. We love making them for you! 01. It’s been over 18 months since we launched our  frame range, and it’s time for the next step. We’ve been absolutely delighted with the response so far, but we want to do even better, and we’re pretty excited to get started! We’ll be announcing updates as they’re ready to go live, but here's an overview of what’s coming up — plus an invitation to send us your own feedback and suggestions. 1.  With the benefit of experience we’re introducing new glazing options. From today, for shipments within New Zealand, we’re moving to To View More >>

Flushmounts are our most popular albums, but we get two requests regularly — more pages and less confusion! So, amongst other things, we’re simplifying the range and adding new thin pages. Watch out for the release announcements, and the introductory offers. Here’s what we’ll be offering in Flushmount: — All album sizes (including new 9x9 and 12x9, which we expect to introduce in the New Year —they’re already a hit in Studio Albums). — All our cover and upgrade options. — Heavy, medium and thin pages (for up to 30, 45 and 60 pages). — Three To View More >>

Here's a look at what goes on in the Queensberry printery — prints, album layouts and canvases being created under the expert eyes of our technicians. Quality is paramount to us. Queensberry print makers Chris and Alex chat about some of our print options, and their own hands-on, eyes-on approach. Printing your photographs is a hands-on process at Queensberry, and we're sticklers for detail — every step is subject to strict scrutiny, and monitored closely from start to finish. But preparing your files properly is just as important to getting To View More >>

UPDATED: corrected an error with the Faux Leather selection. We're getting ready to introduce new cover material and embossing options, and we're pretty excited about it. But first we need to say goodbye to some of the existing range. It's hard turning our back on things we love, but we need to make way for the new. And normally the reason is simple … not enough sales. The good news is that the discontinued materials will be available "while stocks last". We just won't be reordering them, and we won't be including them in our swatches, which we're To View More >>

We're big animal lovers at Queensberry! Portrait Albums are perfect for pet and portrait photography, or even a mixture of the two.  We saw Kelly Wolfe's album as it went through the bindery, and thought you might like to see it too! Kelly has recently returned to photography and is based in North Waikato, New Zealand.  Kelly talks about the importance of having product samples. "It helps inspire ideas when we are planning a portrait session together, and also helps them start thinking about what products might best suit their own space and personal tastes – whether To View More >>

Have you thought about running your own workshop? So many photographers do. It’s a great way to pass on your knowledge, build your reputation, and make a bit of money while you’re at it! But where to start? Julz Glover’s “The Workshop” is about the use of online imagery to get clients’ attention and turn them into paying customers. She focuses on food photography in particular, and on Instagram as a promotional tool. She offers both one-on-one and group coaching, but her latest course is online, and accessible to people across the globe. We spoke to To View More >>
