UPDATE: This recording has been removed and replaced by an updated version of our Advanced Photojunction webinar available for viewing here. Last week we jumped in the deep end and kicked off this year's Photojunction webinars with a brand new one - Tips, Tricks and Power Features. This is a follow-up to our newbie webinar and a little more advanced, so we assumed attendees had (some) experience with the software. In it, we covered lots of tips, tricks and power features including: - Working with PSDs and JPEGs - Sorting and selecting images - Alignment - Productivity features - Working with clients To View More >>

He arrived at our place at 11am. We (the boys) were all in the lounge playing Playstation. He didn't mind that. In fact he quite liked it. He clicked away. I lost the game. We played another. Forgetting he was even there, I found him later in my room shooting my hanging suit, the rings on the dresser, my arrangement of perfumes and our shoes. Just doing his thing. Then he turned up at Kayla's place and made himself at home... ideal. He shot the girls getting ready - the chaos, the nerves, the details, the family. I wasn't there but that's what the photos told me. Mrs Mother-in-law felt a little To View More >>

Your best wedding photos probably won't make it to a magazine ... or win any prizes ... and the reason isn't because you're not Brangelina. It's because other people won't be looking at the pictures through your eyes. Nigel and Kayla invited Heather and I to their wedding, and I've just seen the photos. What really struck me amongst the hundreds of images - and probably because I work with Nigel and know him so well - were a couple of shots that show the rush of emotion he felt when he saw Kayla walk down the aisle. I reckon one day someone might look at those pics and think - or say, "Gee Grandad, To View More >>

Wedding Photography and the Difference Between Good and Great Wedding Photos By David Freund A couple of days ago I was involved in an online discussion about wedding photography and what makes great, soulful wedding photographs. I thought I’d share my thoughts on what takes good wedding photos and makes them great wedding photos. A couple of years back I had 5 out of 6 straight weddings at the same location, same celebrant and same reception venue. My wife asked how I was able to do different work for each couple. It’s simple. I’m taking photos of two people on their wedding day. Not the To View More >>

Boxing Day Sales in New Zealand are just like Black Friday in the States. Nigel is hitting them up, but I'm opting out this year for a game of croquet instead. Happy Boxing Day! Danny p.s. The Boxing Day article is worth a read. To View More >>

Last post I said we didn't get married in a castle. This time I get to admit we didn't drive Bentleys to the venue. I'm starting to feel quite a man of the people! ... I'm not a car guy. The two cars I've owned have been hand-me-downs from my mum, and I prefer to ride my Vespa. You get the picture. But the guys' one job at a wedding is to choose the car - the colour and make and model and size ... and it proved to be a little harder than I expected... Kayla grew up driving BMWs and Audis, so I wanted something a little different. A couple of Bentleys would have been nice. But it turns out finding To View More >>

In a few hours we'll have made it to our holiday close-down. Each year we have a barbeque and a few drinks after work on the last day, and, because we operate from three sites (Bindery, Lab, IT team, not to mention a few outliers), it isn't possible to get everyone together for it. Which is a pity, because it's quite an emotional event - and a bit greasy too, given I'm one of those that helps with the cooking! Only a grinch could fail to notice what a friendly, hard-working, supportive bunch the people who work here are and what fun they are to be with. It's a real shame we can't all meet up. But To View More >>
