This weekend (September 15th and 16th) in Auckland is Live the Passion - an event aimed to educate, enthuse and inspire photographers. Stephen Baugh will be there representing Queensberry and giving a Workspace presentation, as well as four master photographers - Jason Starr, Luci Harrison, Emma Hughes and Simon Woolf. If you're in Auckland (or can make it up) we recommend attending. The event will have sessions focusing on different types of photography including travel, documentary and fine art, as well as trade demonstrations and social media education. Three things I try not to do: write about our competitors, jump to their defence, and risk offending people who could be our customers; but today I’m going to do all three. I want to write about the huge outpouring against Smugmug over their price increase – and suggest a few things you should think about before you jump ship, if you’re with them. I must admit I find these outbursts upsetting, no matter the justification. When I started to use the Net back in the 90s, it was all about support, helping each other and respect. In the world I want to live in, you respect the businesses that To View More >>

Last Friday was my last day working for Queensberry. Thanks to the holiday weekend, today is technically my first day as a stay-at-home mom. Excuse me if I ramble, but this is a huge change for me. It has been a whirlwind of an adventure working with the Queensberry family. And it really is just that. Family. In late 2007, I left Apple to start working in a photography studio. Designing wedding albums was a job?! Crazy. I was quickly introduced to Photojunction. By mid-2008 I had annoyed the PJ team enough that they rewarded me with a free Photojunction license for as long as the application existed. To View More >>

If you were reading our blog last month you might have heard I didn't make the best decision when it came to picking my wedding photographer, and I have less than wonderful wedding pictures to show for it. If you missed the posts they were Lessons I learnt from planning my wedding and Why I cut my photography budget. As I mentioned previously however, my husband and I were fortunate to take part in a photo shoot with kiwi photographers A Couple of Night Owls. Though these pictures can never quite replace the missed moments on our wedding day, it is amazing to have such beautiful pictures of us To View More >>

I saw that my peach tree was starting to blossom today. Which in one way is cool, but in another it sucks, because we've just sold our house, so no summer fruit for me. Anyway, for us down here in little ol' New Zealand it means summer is on its way and the wedding season is just about to begin. For those of you up north it means that your wedding seasons will be starting to draw to a close, and those album orders will start rolling in. So just a reminder… Before you send your album layouts in, give them a once over. You'd be amazed what you can pick up on when you view your exported layouts To View More >>

Last night we removed the data limits on our Workspace Pro Plus plan and took some of the restrictions off our Free Plan. We've had a lot of requests for this, so here's the deal… 1. Under the Workspace Pro+ Plan, data storage is now unlimited. 2. The Workspace Free Plan now offers 750MB of storage, but access is no longer restricted, and you can use it indefinitely. We do reserve the right to cancel inactive accounts (where there have been no new uploads or sales for twelve months). Please read the details on our website. So why the change of mind? One thing concerned us when we launched Workspace. To View More >>

DHL recently announced that they are discontinuing their US domestic service (U.S Express) to focus on their more profitable international services. However this change won’t affect our service to you. That’s because the only services affected are DHL shipments being sent from one US location to another. We ship all our international orders direct from our bindery in New Zealand and DHL have assured us that this change won’t affect you or us in any way. We’re working hard to get as many orders as we can dispatched before our December close-down. Rest assured that our expected delivery times To View More >>
