Album Pages

The most important aspect of any album is how it displays your images. We offer a choice of page types for every taste: Matted (Pagemount or Overlay), Digital (un-matted) and Duo (which allows you to combine the two within one album).

Pagemount Album Overlay Album

You’ll find examples of all our page types in our 8x8 Page Sampler, which is part of our Starter Kit.

Digital AlbumDuo Album

Matted albums are the traditional “wedding album” used by generations of photographers. They have changed radically because of our ability to computer-cut mats to almost any design, and to individually craft customised books.

In the illustration above, the top two images show matted albums: Pagemount on the left (ivory mats with the images mounted on a silver base page) and Overlay on the right (with black mats). You can click on the images to view them full size.

The bottom left image is a Digital album (known variously as flushmount, magazine or digital composite albums in different markets). The bottom right image shows a Duo album combining digital and matted pages in the same album. You can mix page types only in Duo albums.

You can order our feature albums with up to 30 leaves (60 sides). If it becomes necessary to create two volumes because you have exceeded the 30-leaf limit, we offer a 40% discount on the second cover.

Terminology

It's easy to get confused about the meaning of the word “page”. Sometimes people use it to refer to a single “side”, as in a book, and sometimes to two sides, or a “leaf”! We generally use the word to mean what we sell: two sides.

We also refer to “layouts” or “openings”. These words refer to what you see when you open a book: the back of one page on the left, and the front of another on the right. Our lab prints “layouts” rather than individual images - this makes for a higher standard of colour correction and more productive album assembly.

Pricing

A page (two sides) may have several components that affect its price, including the page itself plus any mats and assembly charges that may apply. You’ll see in our Price List that all the above are included in the page price. Only printing and Design are charged separately.

Dimensions

If you’re not using Photojunction you MUST refer to our tables of dimensions before planning layouts or exporting your print files. Photojunction automatically outputs your print images to the correct size.
