Digital pages are simple to specify because your only choice is whether you prefer to assemble the album yourself or not (covered under Album Assembly).
How they're made Digital composite images are printed on standard photographic paper, and then permanently bound into the book by us. The final step in manufacturing a Digital album is to trim the page block in the guillotine: hence its smooth-edge appearance, like a regular book. We offer a self-mount option as well, which you need to assemble yourself. We do not make leaves with prints continuous across the spine of the book, as some manufacturers do. Instead, the prints on our digital pages are split at the centreline, leaving a gap of about 2mm (about 1/16”). There are two reasons for this; more flexibility as to what equipment you can print on, and because the fold in the print almost invariably discolours and/or cracks. Like all our albums, we can apply a protective coating to your prints. There is no charge for this provided we do the printing. Digital albums are supplied boxed and in velvet drawstring bags. You'll find samples of fully bound and self-mount digital pages in our 8x8 Page Sampler, which illustrates all our page options. Design notesThe digital page layout above was created in Photojunction. Layouts like this can be created on the fly or using pre-defined templates. The layouts can then be exported ready for printing or for further enhancement in Photoshop. Note the Guides around the page edge and centre spine. These indicate areas that you should keep clear of critical data such as heads, text and borders in case it gets trimmed away, as described above, during final construction. This is particularly important if you want to order Digital Copies from the layout. For more information click here.
Designing with third-party software We strongly recommend that you use the latest version of Photojunction for planning albums, creating the high-res print files and sending your order. if you prefer to design your layouts in Photoshop or third-party template software you MUST refer to our tables of dimensions and ensure that you correctly size the layouts. Take care not to incude critical image data in areas that could be subject to trimming. To send your order you can download our PDF forms from this website.
