A Digital Copy album is, as nearly as possible, a small replica of one of our large format digital or matted albums. We cannot replicate some covers and matted album features, and strict technical and other conditions apply to production of Digital Copies, so please read the following carefully.

Digital Copies are available only on albums that we print and assemble.

We offer Digital Copies in either 5 or 7 inch formats. We match the cover material to the larger original album with the exceptions of wood, aluminium, acrylic and quarter photo front covers, which we make in black leather unless you specify otherwise. Covers are plain un-padded (no decorative motifs). Copy albums are supplied in either black or grey velvet drawstring bags.

Conditions apply

1. The album from which the copy is made must be printed and fully bound by us (ie not self-mount) and must be 12x12 format or larger.

2. Digital Copies must be ordered at the same time as the large album. If ordered separately they will be charged as a small feature album (cover, pages and printing: see our pricelist).

3. We do not offer albums larger than 7-in as Digital Copies, but we do offer discounts on our 9x9 and 10x7 formats provided they are ordered and confirmed in conjunction with a 12x12 or larger feature album. Check your price list for details.

4. Maximum quantity per feature album (combined sizes): 5.
   

Technical and design notes

1. Please do not re-size the image files for the Digital Copies (we will scale the files ourselves).

2. Do not put any critical information (eg heads, text, borders) within 12mm (1/2-in) of the page edge of any album design from which you intend to make a digital copy! 2-3mm (1/8-in) will be trimmed away from the edge during construction, and scaling down for the copy album will reduce that safety margin by two thirds or even more! WE TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE LOSS OF CRITICAL IMAGE DATA PLACED TOO CLOSE TO THE LAYOUT EDGE. Photo safe guides in Photojunction show the area you should keep clear of critical data.

3. Digital Copies with Photo Front covers require special treatment. Closely cropped images are unsuitable for Photo Fronts because important areas would be concealed where they wrap around the cover - even more so when scaled down to make a copy (the aspect ratio also changes slightly). You can avoid the problem by designing the cover with our July 2007 Resources in PJ v6.22 , as photo safe guides indicate the area to keep clear of critical data.

Digital Copies from matted albums

1. You must use the latest version of Photojunction. An extra charge will apply for preparing the Digital Copy page layouts.

2. Ensure all images in the large album are aligned before exporting high-res layouts for printing. If not, the images in the copy will be misaligned.

3. To replicate the mat and border colours effects, we require layered Photoshop files. This service is generally available only for Full Colour Service printing. Print-Ready clients who require Digital Copies from matted albums will need to send us layered files for their feature album printing, not flattened files as they would normally do. Extra file handling charges will apply.

4. We cannot replicate all characteristics of matted albums in Digital Copies. For example: open wing pages are shown on a separate layout; non-photographic inserts such as matted titles and invitations CANNOT be replicated. We will however rearrange the images to close the space created by the missing aperture.
