Click for a close-up! Have you noticed our finely polished "tech tips" get less Likes than the other posts? :( So I thought I'd just remind you that us tech support staff are real people too. I went to our nation's capital over the weekend as a bit of a family outing. I didn't go to look at parliament buildings. Boring, in fact I didn't even see them in the distance. I went to the Weta Cave, where Weta Workshop is based and where they made the props for Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, Hobbit etc. I have to be honest, I nearly had a nerdgasm. Not only because of the artistic ability of the teams who do this work but because for me it would be the ultimate job. I am sooooo jealous. They receive 30 to 50 portfolios per week from people wanting to work for them. At the lab we have prints on the walls, there they have helmets, swords and skeletal remains! However I did mention where I work to a couple of the guys, and they got excited. One of the model makers said his sister had a Queesberry and how lovely it was. Anyway between that and going to Te Papa to see an Andy Warhol exhibition and shopping on Cuba Street I was overflowing with creative thoughts, and the camera got a workout. The enjoyment of shooting reminded me why I'm in this industry. Not every shot needs to earn a dollar but it should fill you with pride when you feel you got it right. Here are a few of my nerdgasmic Wellington and Weta shots. Next job getting them uploaded to Workspace and then printed and framed. Happy snapping, Pete BTW if you haven't been to Wellington yet you have to go. Sorry we don't do skeletal remains, Pete, but you guys do a great job for us anyway - Ed.
