FTP Service PDF Print E-mail

We offer a convenient FTP upload service so you can send us your digital page layout and cover image files for printing.

LabFTP Software

Our FTP service requires LabFTP, an upload utility available from us on request.

We strongly recommend you use LabFTP in conjunction with Photojunction. Photojunction v6.20 introduced three relevant productivity features:

  • The ability to crop, size, enhance and export a cover image for the album and send it to us with the rest of your printing.
  • A High-Res Export Wizard that checks your high-res files for problems, then exports files for printing that comply with our specifications.
  • The option of saving your Photojunction files for a particular album to disk for FTP upload.

The notes that follow assume you are using Photojunction v6.22 or later, not an earlier version.

Is your broadband service up to the challenge?

How to use our FTP service

Step 1: Contact us for a username and password

This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it We’ll also send you the URL to download LabFTP.

Step 2: Download and install LabFTP.

LabFTP has several special features to help smooth the way when you send us your work:

  1. Built-in order forms ensure Queensberry knows exactly what you want done when your work arrives (in fact the software refers to “orders” rather than “uploads”).

  2. LabFTP checks your files before sending them and warns if any of them fail to meet our specifications: to avoid extra charges and delays, we recommend that you correct any problems found before continuing with the upload.

  3. You can include your Photojunction files and low-res proxies with your upload: recommended, because we will then have everything necessary to trouble-shoot any problems or, if you wish, design the album or create the high-res page layouts for you.

  4. LabFTP retains a complete history of all the work you upload.

  5. The “Resume” function means you don’t need to start again if your upload link fails.

Step 3: Enter preferences for your preferred “lab configuration”

When you start LabFTP you’re taken to the main screen, where you’ll find a list detailing all of your previous sent and unsent orders.

LabFTP

When you click the Add An Order button at the bottom-left of the screen you’re asked to choose a “Lab Configuration”. These configurations provide a way to filter your uploads to ensure that your files comply with our specifications, as well as “order forms” to ensure that we receive from you is a clear, comprehensive and unambiguous set of instructions. You need to complete the configuration by completing your user Preferences (accessible from the Edit menu (Windows) or LabFTP menu (Mac).

Currently we only distribute one Configuration, but if there were more than one, separate Preferences would need to be completed for each lab configuration you wanted to use.

Preferences include:

  • Your Queensberry account name and number, which you can get from an invoice or directly from us, as well as your contact email address;

  • Your Queensberry FTP login username and password, which we will email to you on request: contact your Client Support;

  • Your SMTP settings, which you can get from your ISP, although you may have entered these into Photojunction already: leave the authentication blank (unchecked) to start with, but you may find your ISP requires a username and password of its own.

  • There is also provision to enter Regular Print Preferences, which will be sent to us with every order: you can edit these at any time.

Step 4: Create and upload an order

Click the Add an Order button at the bottom left of the main screen.

You will be asked to select a Lab Configuration and then a Product order Form.

LabFTP

There are two order forms to choose from, depending on whether you want to use our Full Colour Service or Print-Ready service. Unless you’re an expert Photoshop user we recommend that you use Full Colour Service: Queensberry will then review all your images for potential problems before printing, and can do colour correction and even re-touching for you.

To complete your order, on the main Order Entry screen:

  1. Enter your order reference and make service selections using the drop-down menus and check boxes. (You won’t be able upload until you’ve made these selections.)

  2. Enter any Special Instructions in the box provided (you’ll see that your Regular Preferences also appear).

  3. Drag all the image files you want printed to the top right-hand box.

  4. Drag all the “support” files required to the bottom right box (ie your Photojunction PJF and PJT files, and your Low-Res proxy folder).

When you’re ready, click the Next button. LabFTP will check all your files for printing to ensure that they comply with our file specifications.

LabFTP

If it finds any problems it will report these on screen and ask you to either cancel and make the necessary changes so that your files do comply, or agree to pay any charges incurred in having Queensberry undertake this file manipulation for you.

LabFTP

The next screen asks you to agree to pay all charges and accept our Terms of Trade. If you agree you will be taken to the upload screen. LabFTP will compress and zip your files before uploading.
