Updated July 31st 2007 “…the most personal, comprehensive post-production service available today” This year we're releasing our new Premier Swatch Book as early as possible so you have plenty of time to order sample albums before the November-December rush. The new books are moving through production as we write and we will be shipping them to you progressively over the next few weeks. Clients who qualify for a free update have already been notified. What's new
The new swatch book has been updated with our latest range of cover materials and motifs, personal titles etc. Here's where to go for details: New swatch book Updated cover materials Updated personal titles Updated cover motifs As usual we have discontinued some items. As well as certain cover materials, this year these include Print Boxes, Companion Albums and Carry Bags. We also regret that we can no longer offer Digital Copies of Quarter Photo Front covers (more on this below). Like other covers we can’t replicate, we will substitute a leather cover. Click here to go to our Discontinued Products page. Generally we can supply discontinued items for a further two years. Unfortunately this is not the case with Buffalino Poppy Red as it is no longer available from our supplier (hand-made paper frontispieces are also unavailable).
On the same note, you’ll see that we’ve updated the range of personal titles and cover motifs in our swatch book, order forms and of course in Photojunction. You’ll still generally be able to order older styles under the two-year policy. Remember, if you have a sample album that is less than two years old, and we can no longer supply product to match it, we will update it for you. Conditions apply, so contact us if you’re in that situation. New Photojunction Resources Our new products have been reflected in a new set of resources. Just as important, though, we have published separate resources for Duo albums. We expect the new resources to make designing Duo albums and cover images much more straightforward. Click here to download the new resources. If you don't already have it, click here to download Photojunction v6.22. Don't forget – using the latest software and resources earns you a credit on every feature album you order. With a few minor exceptions, prices are unchangedWith a few minor exceptions, we expect our prices to stay the same until the end of 2007, but there are a few minor exceptions. These changes take effect immediately: - If we render your high-res page layout files from Photojunction, we will in future charge per album rather than per page. The price has also increased.
- Protective coating on prints supplied for assembly is now charged per page (two sides) rather than per side (we cannot coat individual prints smaller than 6x4).
- Other price increases with immediate effect include: Flips in Copy Albums; mounting film and double-sided tape; CD/ DVD burn.
- Our clients are requesting ever more features in our albums, and this is reflected in a couple of additional “non-standard” charges. Of course some of you will have still more requests we haven’t anticipated! If we can’t do what you want, we apologise in advance. If we can, please understand that we need to charge extra to cover our costs.
Finally, we expect to release next year’s price lists in September as usual. Dealing with an evolving service...The evolving nature of Queensberry’s service has been a theme for a couple of years now, as we transform ourselves from making custom albums to offering the most personal, comprehensive post-production service available today. One thing’s been clear for a while: we can only succeed if we understand each other... - We need to know exactly what you want (which is what Photojunction and our order forms are for)
- You need to know exactly what we can do (which is what our new Service Details document is about).
Given the highly customised service we offer, it’s not surprising that photographers often conjure up new ways to explore the product, services and design elements that we offer. It’s at that point we need to delineate exactly what we can and cannot do. You'll find this “fine print” scattered throughout our price lists, website etc. Now we've gathered it up in Service Details for handy reference. Much of what’s in it isn’t new, but some of it is, and we suggest, when in doubt, that you refer to it. A table of contents follows, but here are a few major points: - We regret to advise that, due to unsustainable production problems with prints supplied for us to assemble, and effective immediately, we can only offer Digital Copies of albums that we print and assemble.
- We need to better manage the process by which you submit images for Photo Front Covers, especially if you want Digital Copies made from them (many images submitted are unsuitable because important areas would be concealed where the image wraps around the cover – even more so on any copy). This problem will be easily avoided if you design the cover in PJ v6.22 with our new Resources, and where necessary we will in future apply a cover design artwork charge.
- As we mentioned in an earlier email, we will no longer request confirmation of small and accessory-only orders, and regular clients can apply to exempt all their orders from confirmation.
Click here to download Service Details from our website . You'll also find it on the Queensberry CD. Meantime, here is a contents summary: - Confirming your order
- Delivery times
- If you change your order
- Requests for repairs or replacements
- About our lab services (File Specifications; Print-Ready vs Full Colour Service)
- About our album design service
- About Digital Copies
- Assembling album with prints you supply
- Minimum quantities on accessory products
- Discounts etc
Other reminders and minor changes that may affect you- A reminder that translucent titles are not available in digital albums.
- Invitations and titles cannot be replicated in copy albums (as mentioned in an earlier email).
- Duo albums are available with black or ivory mats on black or ivory pages – but not in our other mat and page colours.
- Cover motifs are now available for an extra charge on galleries – they no longer incur a non-standard cover charge.
- We have decided to trial metallic prints again at a 50% surcharge over standard printing, and on entire albums only. Whether we can continue to do so will depend on whether marking problems prove to be manageable on this delicate product.
