Lab services

Queensberry's professional laboratory (originally the iconic New Zealand lab, Chromatek) was founded 35 years ago to provide a service to portrait and wedding photographers based on integrity, quality and professionalism. That history and philosophy continue today in the commitment, skills and experience of our staff.

Two levels of service

Colour correction, retouching etc – who does the work, you or us? If it's you, choose Print-Ready. If it's us, choose Full Colour Service.  Photojunction will ask you to choose a service when you are ordering your album.

The more you spend with us, the less you pay for printing

We offer discounts on your printing based on your average monthly spend with Queensberry. We calculate your discount entitlement by totalling all your purchases excluding freight (ie including printing, colour correction, artwork, albums, album assembly and print finishing). Please see your Price List for details.

Sending your orders

Photojunction has built-in FTP functionality to upload your orders and image files (you will need an FTP user name and password).

Full Colour Service

Full Colour Service means we review your files and colour correct them before printing. Print quality will still depend on the files you send us, but this is an opportunity to have another set of expert eyes reviewing the images and doing your production work.

Colour correcting album page layouts requires layered Photoshop (PSD) files so that we can correct individual images (layers). We will undertake image editing and retouching on Full Colour Service printing on request and for an extra charge.

Click here for our colour management policy and our definition of standard colour correction versus custom colour correction and colour matching. (Standard colour correction is included in the cost of Full Colour Service.)

Saving your “corrected” files

Once your images have been satisfactorily corrected, they are saved with the changes. You can request a CD or DVD burn of your images so that we can return the corrected layout files to you. We retain images on our servers for three months after your order is completed.

Proofing

On request we will send you soft proofs so you can preview on screen the images as they will appear after printing. In certain circumstances we may ask you to confirm that you are happy to proceed with printing on the basis of these soft proofs. We can also send you actual prints for approval (normal prices apply).

Print-Ready service

Print-Ready Service gives you greater creative control at the expense of time and responsibility.

When you order our print-ready service, we assume you have edited and proofed the files against our printer profiles, and they're ready to send to our printer. We don’t modify your image files in any way. Our responsibility is to faithfully reproduce the images you have created. File handling of any sort, if required, incurs extra charges.

Recommended for experts only, good results will depend on (a) your ability to edit and colour correct images to a professional level (b) your understanding and implementation of colour management and proofing principles, so that the printing you receive back is what you expect.

Please note: We don’t modify your files and therefore don’t offer no-charge remakes. Always install our ICC lab profile and soft-proof your images on a calibrated monitor before uploading them for printing.

Your Print-Ready files will NOT be reviewed by our staff before printing. Always check your files carefully before sending them to us and complete any remedial artwork YOU feel is necessary. Reprinting and repairs can be expensive and disappointing if problems are not discovered until after the prints have been assembled in the album – or worse, shipped to your client.

To avoid expense and disappointment we may ask you to confirm that you are happy with the prints (or recommend that you correct the files and reprint them) before binding them in the album.

Files must be supplied as flattened JPEGs cropped and sized to match the finished print dimensions at 250 dpi. HOWEVER layered PSD files are essential if you want us to make Digital Copies of matted album page layouts, and will incur extra charges.
