Last month I wrote and asked for your help getting vendors onboard. The response was amazing – we’ve signed up a few and we’re in talks with a few more. I can’t thank you enough.

This month is another first, advertising. Before you reach for your nearest community forum to tell everyone we’ve “sold out”, hear me out.

First, we’re finding new ways to pay the bills so you don’t have to – remember Photojunction is now free.

Secondly we’re not going to put any ol’ advert on our newsletter. We want it to be useful for you – that way it’s useful for our sponsors too, you get the idea…

Take mylife-pages.com. Stephen and I met Eric at WPPI this year, and instantly liked him and his product. I’ve been working on a way for us to work together ever since. Advertising fits. It’s a way for us to support him while paying the bills. And if we get it right, some of you will like mylife-pages.com too ;-)

We’re open to sponsorship by all things awesome: products, seminars, webinars, events, education, websites, whatever.

As always if you’re interested in the direction of this ship, feel free to email me, danny@photojunction.com

Cheers, Danny

G’day Australia

I’m heading along to the PMA Imaging Technology Show 2009 courtesy of Seldex Artistic Albums. I’ll be manning the stand with the Seldex crew and will also be running mini presentations throughout Friday and Saturday. I’d love to catch up so pop along to the Seldex stand and say hi!

June 26 & 27th: PMA Imaging Technology Show, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, Sydney

Cheers, Danny (from the land of the Rugby League World Champions!)

PJ Remix 1.26b beta released

PJ Remix 1.26b has been released with a stack of new features (and we do mean a stack – here are the release notes).

Click here for a short movie Nigel and Danny recorded to introduce the main new features: text functionality, importing PSDs as templates and images, and creating proof sheets.

If you’d like to try the new version but aren’t set up to get beta updates, here’s what to do.

Assuming you’ve already downloaded and installed PJ Remix 1.25, go to the Photojunction menu (on Mac) or the Help menu (on Windows) and choosing Check For Updates. Turn on ‘Notify me of Beta Updates’ in the Photojunction Preferences if you want PJ to alert you of future releases.

Have you subscribed to The Junction?

Last month we leaked a few details about the new release, posted about this new PJ Help Page, Danny wrote about templates and productivity versus creativity and we had a few laughs with an amazing wedding video, an old washing machine that sold for $5k after going viral (800,000 page views) and another video that will appeal if you think your clients are nickel and diming you. Don’t miss them.

Finally, Johannes van Kan wrote some posts about pre-designing with Photojunction. We’ll reprint the first in full, the links for the others follow.

Pre-design: like getting engaged

Is it a better proposal when it’s a surprise?

You’re out for a romantic dinner with your true love and suddenly she finds an engagement ring in her champagne … So many things could go horribly wrong.

It’s a three way bet. She could say ‘yes’, ‘no’, or ‘let me think about it’.

Pre-designing an album is no different.

There are risks, but if you get it right it’s incredibly rewarding.

No risk, no reward.

Pre design: chicken or steak?

Pre-design: the reasons not to

All the best from Team PJ.
