How to price your templates? Is pricing always the most interesting topic?

Undercut? Over the top? You’re a photographer, so you know how to charge ;)

Well I think there’s an argument for quite a few approaches so I’ll give you a few facts to help set your price.

- The mean sale in the Store has been about $37 US dollars.

- The median is $35 US dollars.

And there seem to be two sweet spots to get volume, $25 and $50.

Of course, there are exceptions, with some templates listed for $150 – $180. Maybe you don’t need to sell much to be happy at those prices?

Next tip.

PS. Please ask me the difference between mean and median ;)

PJ-StoreAdded

Our newest little feature has really helped promote the PJ Store, which pleases our bean counters.

The store has been going long enough to start noticing trends, things that are working and things that aren’t.

If you’re interested in promoting templates, over the next few days I’ll blog about stuff I’ve noticed (mainly anecdotal but I think they’ll help).

Next post.

The Photojunction Store has been up and running for nearly a month, which means very soon, it’s payday for those who have made some sales.

We know it’s unusual to get excited about paying others, but we’re super excited about the number of people who are due to receive a wee boost to their income this month. Including one who will have to figure out what to do with the extra US$200 they’ve made!

Selling your work in the Photojunction Store is easy-peasy, so make sure you don’t miss out on a potential payday next month, and get your stuff uploaded!

Cheers, Danny

If you’ve got something to sell, the Photojunction Store has huge potential.

The store is an online marketplace enabling you to buy and sell templates, actions and e-books – or whatever you think other photographers may be interested in.

Since we made Photojunction free our active user base, downloads and registrations have all jumped dramatically. Partnering with the Photojunction Store offers you a way to reach those masses, sell your products, and boost your income in the process.

So here’s a quick look at how to start selling:

Make sure you have the latest version of Photojunction Remix and click ‘Photojunction Store’ on the home screen.

Once you’re inside the store, click the big Sell button (top right corner) and login using your Photojunction ID and password (if you’ve forgotten them follow the simple instructions to retrieve your account details).

On the first screen you’ll be asked to specify the category your item fits into and outline its details. For this example we’ll sell Templates.

On the next screen you need to specify if you want your templates to appear with your photography in them (which you’ll need a model release for), or as blank layouts.

Hit Done, and that’s it!  Your item will be transfered to us for review.

Once its been approved and were ready to release it in the store, well let you know.

From there we look after everything else. At the end of the month, or when your account exceeds USD$50, well pay out any sales youve made, less our 30% commission for the sale.

You wont need to be a rock star to get noticed, well feature items on the home page each week that stand out to us. Theres also a spot on the home page for recently added templates to give newbies some great exposure.

Lastly, make sure to read the fine print in our terms and conditions before you start buying or selling.

Cheers, Nigel
