high res export with correct sizes for printing

Postby capture » Thu Jul 30, 2009 3:33 pm

We usually create Seldex albums with a mix of matted and non-matted sides. When exporting the high res images, the files all come out at the same size. In the past that meant we had to resize every drymount (non-matted side) and the slip-ins for the mats were correct. Since upgrading to 1.29, the drymounts are correct but we need to resize every slip-in for a matted side, which is usually the larger number of sides.

Either way, this is an extra step in the process that creates both more work for us and the risk of mistakes. Clearly, there must be a way to export the files at the correct print size for both matted and non-matted pages?

No reply??

Meanwhile we have agreed to print at exported size (at our cost) and Seldex will trim at their end. Still, I think there should be an easy fix for this.

Hi,

I'm sorry about not getting back to you earlier. We're currently talking to Seldex regarding a solution for this; for now, I'm working on some Photoshop actions to automatically crop the exported layout to the slip-in size, while ensuring that the layout is centered.

Hi

I am brand new to PJ and using v1.36. I have the same issue when exporting the layouts for a 14x10 horizontal evolution (mixed matt and digital) album with Photomounts. The single layouts come out with slightly larger sizes (1st single page is 15.553 x 11.613 and other proceeding pages have slightly inconsistent width sizes but consistent height (eg. 15.353, 15.357 and even 15.55).

Is this normal? Given I am printing with a different lab to the ones on Photomounts list, will I need to adjust each layout to 14x10?

Many thanks

Hi Diana,

For Photo Mounts & Albums Evolution albums, the panoramic page size is slightly narrower per side than the standard page size. The other inconsistencies in size will be related to how the Photoshop scripting has to handle anything that comes out as a half pixel, as the scripting engine has to work out whether it should be rounded up or down.
