Craig Balme has been a professional photographer for twenty years.

Craig, who has a degree in commerce, bought his first camera at age twenty-three to earn a living photographing white-water rafting in New Zealand’s North Island. When he sold that business he moved into portrait and wedding photography in Auckland.

“I’d rather put more energy into custom design for a small number of couples. I’m not into volume. I want to work at the top end of the market with young professionals who want to pay for a great product, which says everything about them and their day. Working the way I do allows me to do this and enjoy a profitable business at the same time.”

Queensberry’s relationship with Craig goes back ten years. It was a happy meeting of minds given the importance of albums to his business - and the fact that our own is based on the proposition that presentation radically changes perceived value.

He is constantly re-examining how he does business and presents his work. Making his clients’ albums “the best they can get in the market” has been a major factor in differentiating him in a crowded marketplace, and for our part we’ve appreciated his regular input into what we have to offer.

Craig spends six weeks each summer with his family at their beach house on Auckland’s Waiheke island - and enjoys the fact that his business allows him to spend so much quality time with his family.
