As a little girl I loved photographs.

My Mum had a big box of them. I’d spend ages playing with the images, stacking, sorting, studying the people and places (even the photos taken by my Nana, who always managed to cut people’s heads off when capturing the moment).

My destiny was to somehow end up working with images.

So I meet this guy called Stephen … it turns out his family business makes beautiful photograph albums …

I marry him :)

How cool is my job? Every day I get to see beautiful love stories. How can you not be a happy person when that’s the business you’re in?

Love, Sonya

Something to think about when you choose a photographer. Choose someone you really like. Choose someone who loves what they do.

Do you remember your first kiss? Be sure to read the notes. Lovely kids.

Send us your love stories!

Cheers, Sonya

This is a very cool and quirky Save the Date made by Studio Artifice in France. The idea at the end is about “Love Padlocks”, which is a relatively new trend where sweethearts affix a padlock to a fence or public fixture to symbolize their love. You lock a padlock and throw away the key. In Paris, love padlocks are usually attached to the Pont des Arts bridge but the trend has taken off all over the world.

Enjoy!

‘Oh So Beautiful Paper’ is a really awesome blog. They have new visual delights every day – that are often beautiful wedding invites – but also anything gorgeous to do with paper.
A little while ago, Queensberry featured in a post about a Musée album with images by Justine Ungaro.

Hope you enjoy browsing:) Just a warning though – it’s incredibly addictive!

Want to see what goes into making a Queensberry?

We commissioned this brief movie as a way to say thank you to all the terrific people who make our albums … and who make us so proud.

Johannes shot the images as he and I walked through the Queensberry Lab and Bindery one afternoon. The photography is all real and unstaged.

Johannes created the video and set it to music by Amy Seeley, who has a lot of new fans.

Thanks again to everyone involved, including the host of Queensberry photographers whose work you can glimpse along the way.

Cheers, Ian

PS If you enjoy it, please share. The movie’s on Vimeo (download or embed it), Youtube, Facebook and our own website. If I say so myself, it’s great way to see the time, skill and care that goes into creating your Queensberry.
Honestly, you’ll enjoy it best on on Vimeo. Check out Musée while you’re there ;)

It’s getting towards the end of the “wedding season”… we’re totally snowed under with editing… we are shooting 2, sometimes 3 weddings per weekend… and I’m shattered!

So… I thought I’d sit down and list a whole heap of things I love about weddings – as a way to rejuvenating myself – and why not share it?

I love seeing families come together, and capturing the little moments as old friends reconnect.

I love seeing “everyday people” going through the process of having professional hair, makeup, putting on a beautiful dress.

I love the reaction when the bride first sees herself in the mirror.

I love how the guys are apparently laid-back but mostly trying to disguise the fact that they’re nervous.

I love a father’s face when he gets the first glimpse of his daughter all dressed up.

I love the expressions as the bride walks down the aisle.

I love when grandparents sneakily reach across halfway through the wedding ceremony to hold one another’s hand.

I love when people cry.

I love that sometimes, it makes me cry too.

I love it when people hug so enthusiastically when they congratulate the bride & groom that their faces smoosh in weird ways.

I love the fact that the family photos I take are going to be treasured by many people, for many years.

I love that I get to play ‘fashion photographer’ for an hour or two.

I love working under pressure – and needing to come up with beautiful images, no matter what the setting, the light, the weather.

I love that the bridal party get sick of having photos taken before we ever get sick of it… even when we did a 4 hour bridal party shoot, we could have kept going!

I love it when guests give a huge cheer as the bridal party enter the reception.

I love the fact that during speeches, people often take the time to say the things that are never said. Hearing a big, strapping best man talk about what an amazing guy the groom is, I find humbling.

I love it when people cry when they see their pictures.

I love the fact that the couple’s Queensberry album will be enjoyed by their grandchildren – a legacy that will live on longer than the couple.

I love that people trust us to capture their day.

I love that people trust us to craft their family history.

I love weddings.

Thanks Isaac. Everyone at Queensberry loves the fact that for most photographers it’s so much more than a job.

After a little wedding invitation inspiration?

From Mashable

“Two German geeks/gamers just upped the ante when it comes to wedding invitations.

The pair programed two versions of a Mario-inspired 8-bit video game as their wedding invitations and sent them out to friends and family. Guests are challenged to beat the game should they wish to unlock the wedding details.

Their video game wedding invitations — dubbed Incredible Adventure — also included some custom packaging and two different versions of the game so would-be guests could play as either the bride or the groom.

You’ll get the gist from the video below.”

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in New Zealand, but I wish we did. After all Kiwi kids have taken Halloween to heart.

What a fantastic opportunity to stop, reflect, and express gratitude to those who share in our lives.

So from the other end of the earth we want to express our gratitude to our clients, readers, suppliers and all the people round the world who own a Queensberry album.

Thank you for your support, your friendship, your love and your commitment.

Queensberry wouldn’t be what it is without you. We never forget that, and we’re truly thankful.

Cheers from everyone, Nigel

If pictures could talk what would they say?

Kodak reckons they’d say, “Keep me, protect me, share me”. We agree.

Live forever.
